Project: PowerOn Employee Recognition Campaign

Celebrating Operational Heroism in the Face of Disaster

Challenge
In the wake of Hurricane Laura and the compounding pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Williamsport, PA, Marshall, TX and Sedalia, MO manufacturing plants played a pivotal role in disaster response—rapidly producing and supplying essential cabling to restore power across 1,300 miles of downed transmission lines. Recognizing the extraordinary efforts of these teams, the Senior Vice President of Power Distribution approached me with a simple but meaningful challenge: find a powerful way to say “thank you.”

Solution
Under my leadership, we launched PowerOn—a heartfelt campaign designed to express gratitude and boost morale for the frontline plant team. Within a compressed timeline, I mobilized my team to create a suite of recognition materials that included:

  • A custom-designed appreciation card capturing the depth of the teams’ impact

  • Site-wide banners displayed prominently throughout the plants

  • Branded “PowerOn” T-shirts distributed to all employees

Each touchpoint was crafted to honor the teams’ resilience and reinforce their critical role in Prysmian Group’s disaster response and recovery mission.

Impact
The campaign served as more than a gesture—it became a cultural touchstone. Feedback from plant leadership and frontline employees was overwhelmingly positive, with many citing a renewed sense of pride and connection to the broader mission. The initiative not only deepened employee engagement during a difficult year but also reinforced our values of drive, trust, and simplicity. PowerOn remains a model for how communications can humanize operations and celebrate the people behind the performance.
